RECYCLED MATERIALS

While most of the steel produced today comes from mined iron ore, the life cycle of a Vicast product begins at the scrap yard. That is, we don’t just buy whatever “scrap” is available; we source specific grades of scrap steel and, depending on its availability, our ductile iron products are made from up to 98% recycled material.Because we use recycled material instead of virgin iron ore, the carbon content of our products is inherently much lower.
We are proud to offer products made from recycled materials that can be almost completely recycled back to their original state.
The circular economy prioritizes recycled materials over raw materials: solutions are designed to minimize or eliminate waste, and the end product can be reused, recycled, or repurposed.

WATER

Due to the nature of the metal casting industry and the design of our foundries, water is not the most significant inflow or outflow from our manufacturing or operations. Vicast’s plant water usage is positively correlated to the number of employees on site at each plant, meaning that the majority of our water usage comes from essential employee facilities.
Our plants all draw water from city pipes, All wastewater is pre-treated on-site and tested at intervals for any non-conformances prior to discharge to an appropriate wastewater treatment plant to comply with local regulatory requirements, We comply with all applicable local and regional regulatory standards for wastewater discharge quality.

AIR EMISSIONS

Before any chemical or material is considered for use or brought into a Victaulic facility, it is first evaluated for its potential for emissions (PTE). The PTE evaluation will review the potential for emissions of nitrogen oxides(NOx), sulfur oxides (S0x), persistent organic pollutants (POPs), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), particulate matter (PM), and other standard categories of air emissions identified in relevant regulations. Air emissions are monitored and reported in accordance with country regulatory requirements. lf ozone depleting substances are required for production, these substances will be monitored and reported in accordance with the respective country regulatory requirements.
